MLB: Angels place RHP Jose Marte on IL with viral infection

The Los Angeles Angels placed right-hander Jose Marte on the 15-day injured list because of a viral infection and recalled right-hander Jack Kochanowicz from Double-A Rocket City.

Marte, 28, last pitched Wednesday when he went 1 2/3 scoreless innings against the New York Yankees. He has a 2.33 ERA in 14 relief appearances in 2024.

Kochanowicz, 23, made his major league debut with the Angels on July 11 and went 0-2 in two starts with a 14.14 ERA. He is 5-8 with a 4.50 ERA in 18 starts for Rocket City this season.
