The LPGA canceled the Taiwan Swinging Skirts tournament, for the fourth year in a row, citing “operational factors” in the announcement on Thursday.

The event had been scheduled for Oct. 26-29.

In a statement, the LPGA said it is “thankful for Chairman Wang, the GAROC and the Swinging Skirts Foundation team for providing opportunities for LPGA Tour athletes since 2014 and their continued dedication for growing women’s golf in Chinese Taipei, as well as the countless fans and volunteers who have supported the event in its history.”

The LPGA did not elaborate on the reasons the plug was pulled on the competition, the second Southeast Asian tournament canceled this year. On Jan. 31, the LPGA stated that the Blue Bay tournament in China would not be held in February due to “ongoing COVID-19 related matters.”

American Nelly Korda won the last Swinging Skirts tournament, held in 2019, successfully defending the championship she won the prior year for her initial LPGA crown.

The LPGA also did not comment on the future of the Swinging Skirts tournament. Its statement mentioned that more information on the tour schedule for the October week in which the tournament was to have been held “will be shared in the near future.”
