Team Liquid shut down a potential rally to edge Isurus Estral 2-1 on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Championship of The Americas 2025 Cross-Conference event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
After prevailing in 39 minutes on red and falling in 42 minutes on red, Team Liquid picked up a 33-minute victory on blue to punch their ticket to the semifinals. American Sean “Yeon” Sung collected 18 kills and 14 assists against two deaths to lead the way for the winners.
The $40,000 LTA Cross-Conference tournament is the first League of The Americas Cross-Conference event of the year. Eight teams compete in a single-elimination bracket, with the first two quarterfinals played Saturday and the other two completed Sunday.
The semifinals take place next Saturday, with the grand final the following day. The prize money is split among the second- through fourth-place teams, with the runner-up getting $20,000 and the third- and fourth-place teams each getting $10,000. The winner qualifies for the First Stand tournament in March.
Cloud9 also prevailed in the quarterfinals on Sunday, blanking LOUD 2-0 thanks to wins on blue in 29 minutes and red in 30 minutes.
