LOUD and Rainbow7 advanced to Round 2 of the lower bracket in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational play-in stage on Friday.
Both teams rebounded from losing their upper-bracket Round 1 matches with victories at Copper Box Arena in London. LOUD recorded a 2-0 win over DetonatioN FocusMe, while Rainbow7 posted a 2-1 triumph over GAM Esports.
LOUD won their first game on blue and second game on red to set up Saturday’s clash versus PSG Talon, who defeated DetonatioN FocusMe in Round 1 of the upper bracket before getting swept by G2 Esports.
Rainbow7 sandwiched 36- and 28-minute wins on red around a 33-minute setback to GAM Esports. Rainbow7 advanced to set up Saturday’s contest against Golden Guardians, who swept GAM Esports in Round 1 of the upper bracket before dropping a 2-1 decision to Bilibili Gaming.
The $250,000 Mid-Season Invitational’s bracket stage runs from May 9-21 with a top prize of $50,000.
