DOTA: Three more teams reach PGL Wallachia playoffs

Aurora, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Spirit qualified for the playoffs Tuesday with win at the Dota PGL Wallachia Season 1 event in Bucharest, Romania.

They joined Team Falcons and Xtreme Gaming in the playoff bracket, with the final three spots to be decided on Wednesday.

The $1 million Dota 2 event started with 16 teams in a modified Swiss-system group stage. The top eight teams will advance to the double-elimination playoffs, while the bottom eight will be eliminated.

All matches in the tournament are best-of-three except for the best-of-five grand final on May 19. The winners will earn $300,000, with the runner-up receiving $175,000.

Aurora swept Shopify Rebellion, Team Spirit did the same to BetBoom Team and Gaimin Gladiators rallied for a 2-1 win against BOOM Esports in Tuesday’s group stage action.

Aurora won in 40 and 53 minutes, both on green. Spirit prevailed in 39 and 54 minutes, both on red. BOOM Esports opened with a 42-minute victory on red, but Gaimin Gladiators answered with wins in 26 minutes on green and 41 minutes on red.

The group stage ends on Wednesday with three matches between 2-2 teams:
–BOOM Esports vs. Shopify Rebellion
–BetBoom Team vs. G2 x iG
–Team Liquid vs. Team Secret
