BetBoom Team, Team Spirit and Team Falcons recorded 2-0 sweeps as the playoffs got underway Wednesday at the $1 million Betboom Dacha Belgrade event in Serbia.
BetBoom Team defeated Aurora Gaming, Spirit beat Yakult’s Brothers and Falcons took down Team Liquid. Tundra Esports also advanced to the upper bracket semifinals, rallying for a 2-1 win over Gaimin Gladiators.
The 12-team Dota 2 tournament began on Oct. 19. Playoff matches will be best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final on Saturday. The champion will pocket $400,000, and the runner-up will get $200,000.
In Wednesday’s action, BetBoom sent Aurora into the lower bracket with a 40-minute win on red and a 33-minute win on green. Spirit beat Yakult in 29 minutes on red and 36 minutes on green. Falcons had to work a little harder against Liquid, winning in 66 minutes on green and 42 on red.
Gaimin Gladiators opened with a 33-minute win on green, but Tundra roared back to win in 53 minutes on green and 42 minutes on red.
