DOTA: BetBoom wins key tiebreaker at DreamLeague Season 20

BetBoom Team defeated Gaimin Gladiators in a tiebreaker match Friday to secure second place in Group Stage 2 at DreamLeague Season 20.

BetBoom Team advanced straight into the upper-bracket final of the playoff stage, where they will play PSG.LGD on Saturday, while Gaimin Gladiators must start in the lower-bracket semifinal against Talon Esports.

BetBoom beat GG in 39 minutes on green and in 53 minutes on red. Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko of Russia averaged a 9.5-1.0-12.0 kills-deaths-assists ratio to lead BetBoom.

BetBoom opened the second stage 5-0 before dropping its final two matches to slip into a tie at 5-2 with Gaimin Gladiators.

Sixteen Dota 2 teams from around the world were invited to DreamLeague Season 20 to compete for a $1 million prize pool. The winner will receive $300,000 and the runner-up will earn $175,000, with the top two finishers also qualifying for the Riyadh Masters later this year.

Group Stage 1 went from June 11-14, with a single round-robin format and all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advanced to Group Stage 2 and formed one single group of eight, featuring best-of-three matches.

The top four finishers from Group Stage 2 qualified for a double-elimination playoff stage to be played Saturday and Sunday; all matches will be best-of-three except for the best-of-five grand final.

The playoff stage begins Saturday with two matches:
–PSG.LGD vs. BetBoom Team (upper-bracket final)
–Gaimin Gladiators vs. Talon Esports (lower-bracket semifinal)
