Team Vitality blanked MOUZ in three maps at the grand final of the ESL Pro League Season 21, winning the championship on Sunday in Stockholm.
Vitality, who also won the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice event last month in Poland, added to their trophy case at the three-stage, $400,000 tournament in Sweden and took home the $100,000 grand prize.
Vitality defeated MOUZ 13-9 on Dust II, 13-4 on Nuke and 13-5 on Inferno in the one-sided affair. All five Vitality players notched at least 42 kills, with Estonia’s Robin “ropz” Kool and Frenchman Dan “apEX” Madesclaire finishing with 45 apiece. William “mezii” Merriman of Great Britain had 42 kills and a match-high plus-16 kills-deaths differential.
Lotan “Spinx” Giladi of Israel led MOUZ with 43 kills and an even K-D. MOUZ settled for a $50,000 prize for second place.
The $400,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament seeded eight of its 24 teams straight into Group Stage 2. The other 16 teams began in Group Stage 1, which featured a Swiss system format of best-of-three matches. The top eight teams then advanced to Group Stage 2, which also employed a Swiss system format with best-of-threes.
Eight teams advanced from Group Stage 2 to the single-elimination playoffs. The quarterfinals and semifinals were best-of-three before the best-of-five grand final on Sunday.
