BIG and Fnatic won their second matches in as many days Thursday to qualify for the semifinals of the DreamHack Open November 2021.

BIG defeated MAD Lions and Fnatic topped ENCE, both by 2-0 scores, to punch their tickets out of Group A and Group B, respectively.

In elimination matches pitting the losers of Wednesday’s opening matches, MOUZ swept Team GamerLegion (GL) and forZe beat Team Spirit 2-0 as well. GL and Spirit were eliminated from the competition.

The remaining spots in the semifinals will be determined by Friday’s “decider matches”: MOUZ vs. MAD Lions in Group A, and forZe vs. ENCE in Group B.

All matches are best-of-three in the four-team group stage. The top two teams from each group advance to the playoffs, which are single elimination. The semifinals are a best-of-three set, while the grand final is a best-of-five.

BIG advanced with a 16-4 rout on Mirage and a 16-13 triumph on Dust II. Germany’s Nils “k1to” Gruhne paced BIG with 43 kills and a plus-15 kills-to-deaths differential.

Fnatic secured the top spot in Group B by beating ENCE 16-14 on Overpass and 16-9 on Nuke. Sweden’s Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin had a game-high 51 kills and a plus-18 K-D differential, while Owen “smooya” Butterfield of Great Britain posted a plus-21 differential on 42 kills.

MOUZ beat GL 16-11 on Ancient and 16-13 on Nuke. David “frozen” Cernansky of Slovakia had a huge day with 55 kills and a plus-25 for MOUZ.

After a close 19-15 win on Ancient, forZe finished off its sweep of Spirit with a 16-0 rout on Nuke. The all-Russian forZe squad was guided by Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko’s 53 kills and plus-27 differential.
