Astralis and Team Vitality rolled to quarterfinal sweeps on Friday, setting up a semifinal matchup at ESL Pro League Season 19 at Saint Julian’s, Malta.
Astralis downed Team Liquid 13-9 on Inferno, 13-7 on Overpass. Nicolai “device” Reedtz paced the all-Danish Astralis roster with 39 kills and a plus-15 kill-death differential. Another Dane, Casper “cadiaN” Moller, led Liquid with 3-0 kills.
Vitality dumped FaZe Clan 13-3 on Nuke, 13-10 on Vertigo thanks to 54 kills and a plus-33 K-D differential from France’s Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut. Estonia’s Robin “ropz” Kool registered 30 kills for FaZe.
The other semifinal on Saturday will feature MOUZ and Complexity Gaming.
The $750,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event began with 32 teams broken up into four groups of eight. Group-stage winners advanced to the quarterfinals; runners-up advanced to the Round of 12 as the high seeds; third-place teams advanced to the Round of 16 as the high seeds; and fourth-place teams advanced to the Round of 16 as the low seeds.
All matches are best-of-three until the grand final on Sunday, which is best-of-five. The winner earns $170,000 and qualifies for the IEM Cologne 2024 event.
