Vernon Adams Jr. looks to light up the scoreboard on Thursday night when the BC Lions host the winless Edmonton Elks in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Well, provided he’s healthy enough to play.

Adams, who is listed as questionable due to an abdominal injury, completed 21 of 33 passes for 398 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 26-24 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week. The 31-year-old has thrown for a CFL-best 1,038 yards in three games for BC (2-1).

Jake Dolegala would get the nod should Adams sit out against the Elks (0-3).

Alexander Hollins reeled in seven receptions for 215 yards against the Blue Bombers, highlighted by a 71-yard score and a 29-yard TD catch.

“Dude was open, man,” Adams said of Hollins. “He did what he did. The bat signal was out, and the Batman delivered.”

Edmonton quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson did quite well for himself in his latest game, throwing for a season-best 342 yards and a career-high-tying four touchdowns. Unfortunately for the Elks, they walked away with a 39-36 setback to the Toronto Argonauts.

Dillon Mitchell has proven to be a familiar target for Bethel-Thompson, reeling in at least five catches per game.

“He’s awesome. Even his improvement from Week 1 to now has been fantastic,” Bethel-Thompson said of Mitchell, who ranks fourth in the CFL with 274 receiving yards. “Week 1, we put him in a tough situation with Swerve (Kyran Moore) sadly going down the day before the game, and he had to switch over to Y and learn a new position in a day. He still did well.

“He’s kind of an example of where our team’s at offensively in that we’re moving the bar up and we’re getting better each week.”

Kurleigh Gittens Jr. leads the Elks with 22 catches, while Hergy Mayala has a club-best three receiving touchdowns.
