CFL: Chris Jones returns to Edmonton as head coach/GM

Chris Jones is returning to the Edmonton Elks as head coach and general manager.

Jones, 55, was the head coach in the 2014 and ’15 seasons, leading the franchise to a Grey Cup title in 2015.

Following that season, Jones moved on to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where from 2016-18 he served as head coach, general manager and vice president of football operations. After a 12-6 season in 2018, Jones earned CFL Coach of the Year honors.

Jones was a senior defensive assistant with the Cleveland Browns in 2019-20 and a defensive consultant with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021.

His lifetime regular-season record as a head coach in the CFL is 53-37.

He won a Grey Cup championship as an assistant coach three times, with the Montreal Alouettes in 2002, the Calgary Stampeders in 2008 and the Argonauts in 2012.
