News reports state that Britney Spear’s famous pop artist father, Jamie Spears, 71, had his leg amputated and is currently recovering.
The limb was removed due to an ailment that required five surgeries throughout a lengthy hospital stay last month. According to sources who spoke with TMZ, none of those procedures were able to control the infection, which is why he lost his leg. After five botched attempts to treat the infection, doctors determined that amputation was the only course of action for Jamie Spears.

Two months had passed since Page Six initially reported that the elder Spears was “seriously ill” and had been admitted to and released from several hospitals, including one that cared for people with infectious disorders, before the announcement was made.
According to multiple accounts at the time, he had “lost more than 25 pounds” and was dealing with health issues after having knee surgery in the middle of the 2000s, the site said.
