Chris Eubanks replaced an injured Taylor Fritz in Davis Cup action for the United States on Thursday in Lithuania.

Fritz, the world’s top-ranked American men’s player at No. 9, is dealing with a right hip injury.

The 32nd-ranked Eubanks was scheduled to face Ukraine’s Viacheslav Bielinskyi on Thursday. It was to be the Davis Cup debut for Eubanks.

This should have been a road competition in Ukraine for the Americans, but matches are being played in Vilnius, Lithuania, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The 6-foot-7 Eubanks, 27, made a run to the Wimbledon quarterfinals last year for his best Grand Slam showing.

Eubanks won his first ATP Tour title at the Mallorca Open in Spain last June.
