Second-seeded Sebastian Baez worked double duty on Friday, winning two matches to advance to the semifinals of the Cordoba (Argentina) Open.

The Argentinian faced a stiff test from Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien in second-round action before prevailing 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Baez then downed countryman Facundo Diaz Acosta 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

Up next for Baez is a matchup against Argentina-born Italian qualifier Luciano Darderi, who upset seventh-seeded Yannick Hanfmann of Germany 7-6 (2), 6-1.

The other semifinal will be an all-Argentinian matchup of Federico Coria and qualifier Facundo Bagnis. Coria ousted third-seeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina 6-3, 6-4 on Friday, and Bagnis defeated Spain’s Jaume Munar 7-5, 6-4.

Earlier Friday, Hanfmann won his second-round match against Argentina’s Roman Andres Burruchaga 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, and Diaz Acosta won an all-Argentinian showdown with Thiago Agustin Tirante, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-2.

Dallas Open

Marcos Giron knocked off top-seeded Frances Tiafoe 6-1, 6-4 in an all-U.S. matchup to advance to the semifinals in Dallas.

Giron, 30, is two wins from his first career ATP Tour title. He reached his only final in 2022 at San Diego before losing to countryman Brandon Nakashima.

Next up for Giron is fourth-seeded Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, who advanced when Australia’s James Duckworth retired from their quarterfinal when trailing 6-2, 3-1.

The other semifinal will be an all-U.S. affair. Third-seeded Ben Shelton, who rallied past seventh-seeded Jordan Thompson of Australia 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-4, will meet second-seeded Tommy Paul, who defeated eighth-seeded Dominik Koepfer of Germany 7-5, 6-3.

Open 13 Provence

The top four seeds all posted straight-set wins in the quarterfinals at Marseille, France.

No. 1 Hubert Hurkacz of Poland eliminated the Czech Republic’s Tomas Machac 6-3, 6-4, setting up a semifinal matchup against fourth-seeded Ugo Humbert of France, who dumped fifth-seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain 6-1, 6-4.

The other semifinal matchup will feature No. 2 Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and No. 3 Karen Khachanov of Russia. Dimitrov beat France’s Arthur Rinderknech 6-3, 7-6 (3), and Khachanov thrashed China’s Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 6-1.
