NHL: Capitals sign Sonny Milano to one-year contract

The Washington Capitals signed forward Sonny Milano to a one-year, $750,000 contract on Sunday.

Per the Capitals, Milano will be placed on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Milano, 26, recorded career-high totals in assists (20), points (34) and games played (66) last season with the Anaheim Ducks. His 14 goals tied a personal best, set during the 2017-18 season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Milano has collected 81 points (36 goals, 45 assists) in 197 career NHL games with Blue Jackets and Ducks. He was selected by Columbus with the 16th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
