Scott Harris, the Detroit Tigers’ new president of baseball operations, is continuing to restructure the team’s front office, the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday.

Scott Pleis, the Tigers’ amateur scouting director, has been fired after 15 seasons with the organization, the Free Press reported, citing multiple sources. The Tigers would neither confirm nor deny the report.

The Tigers fired Al Avila in August in his seventh season as general manager and last month hired Harris to lead their baseball operations.

Harris was in the process of completing his third season as general manager of the San Francisco Giants. He assumed control of the Tigers’ day-to-day operations on Thursday after spending a few weeks evaluating the organization.

The Tigers (66-96) finished the 2022 season in next-to-last place in the American League Central, 26 games behind the first-place Cleveland Guardians. Detroit last made the playoffs in 2014.
