Giancarlo Stanton had a two-run single and a bases-loaded walk in his return from a two-month absence and the New York Yankees scored early and often in a 13-4 shellacking of the host Oakland Athletics on Thursday.

New York’s Josh Donaldson collected three hits and scored four times in the opener of a four-game series.

Andrew Benintendi and Oswaldo Cabrera had three hits apiece and Jose Trevino scored three times for the Yankees, who cruised to a victory in their first outing of a three-city, 10-game trip.

Aaron Judge didn’t homer in his Northern California homecoming, but did contribute a single and a run-scoring infield out to the uprising. The Yankees had just four extra-base hits — all doubles — among their 20 hits.

Right-hander Jameson Taillon (12-4) benefitted from New York’s first double-digit scoring output since July 29, throwing six comfortable innings of one-run, six-hit ball. He struck out two without issuing a walk.

In winning for the fourth straight time, the Yankees scored in bunches, putting up four runs in each of the second and third innings, two more in the fourth and three in the seventh.

After striking out in his first at-bat since leaving the New York lineup on July 23 due to Achilles soreness, Stanton got back into the swing of things with his two-run hit in the second inning to make it 4-0.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa had opened the scoring against Oakland starter James Kaprielian (3-8) three batters earlier with a two-run single of his own.

Stanton capped his three-RBI game with his bases-loaded walk on Kaprielian’s last pitch in the third. Donaldson ignited the four-run inning with an RBI double.

Kaprielian was charged with eight runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. He walked six and struck out two.

Judge’s RBI groundout came as part of New York’s two-run fourth that made it 10-0. The visitors wrapped up their scoring in the seventh, during which Donaldson, a former All-Star with the A’s, chipped in with a two-run double.

Donaldson joined Stanton with three RBIs for the Yankees. Kiner-Falefa and Gleyber Torres each pitched in with two hits and two runs, while Trevino and Anthony Rizzo also logged a pair of hits each.

Shea Langeliers produced Oakland’s only run off Taillon with a solo home run, his second, in the sixth inning. He also had an RBI single as part of a three-run seventh.

Langeliers wound up with three hits and Tony Kemp added a pair for Oakland, which fell to 3-4 on a 10-game homestand.
