Michael Wacha threw 5 2/3 shutout innings to help the visiting Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 win against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.
Wacha (8-1) surrendered four hits, struck out four and walked one in the second game of the three-game series.
Christian Arroyo had three hits for the third time in the past four games and Enrique Hernandez drilled a two-run homer for the Red Sox, who avoided a three-game losing streak.
Baltimore starter Kyle Bradish (1-5) allowed three runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. The rookie right-hander struck out six with no walks.
Ramon Urias, Adley Rutschman and Jorge Mateo had two hits each for the Orioles.
The Red Sox stranded five runners through the first four innings before they strung together three consecutive singles in the fifth.
Kevin Plawecki punched a one-out single to right and Arroyo dropped a single into right-center field to put runners on the corners. Alex Verdugo then singled into nearly the same spot to drive in Plawecki for the 1-0 lead.
J.D. Martinez singled to lead off the sixth and one batter later Hernandez hit a 2-0 pitch just inside the left-field foul pole for a 3-0 lead.
Baltimore, which had 15 runs on 18 hits in the series-opening win on Friday, did not put a runner into scoring position until Anthony Santander walked with two outs in the sixth to put runners on first and second and end the night for Wacha.
John Schreiber came out of the bullpen and got the final out and then came back out for the seventh, but gave up back-to-back singles to Urias and Mateo to start the inning. A throwing error by right fielder Jarren Duran on the second base hit allowed both runners to move up to second and third.
After a ground out by pinch-hitter Kyle Stowers brought home the first run to make it 3-1, a wild pitch brought home a second run to make it 3-2.
Arroyo continued his hot hitting in the ninth and rolled a double down the third-base line to drive in Duran and make it 4-2.
That run proved big as the Stowers drove in another run with a ground out in the ninth before Garrett Whitlock completed the two-inning save for his fifth of the season.
