The Los Angeles Angels placed outfielder Mike Trout on the 10-day injured list Monday with left ribcage inflammation.

The three-time American League MVP missed his fourth straight game on Saturday. On Sunday, he opted out of Tuesday’s All-Star Game due to the injury.

Trout, 30, left last Tuesday’s game against the Houston Astros with a reported back issue, and the hope was he could play in the abbreviated two-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend. The 10-time All-Star was scratched from starting lineup shortly before game time Saturday.

On the season, Trout is hitting .270 with 24 home runs and 51 RBIs in 79 games. A calf injury limited him to just 36 games last season, and he has played as many as 140 games only once since 2016.

Also on Monday, the Angels claimed infielder Phil Gosselin off waivers and outrighted outfielder Monte Harrison to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Atlanta Braves designated the 33-year-old Gosselin for assignment on July 11.

Gosselin batted .261 with four runs in 12 games this season with Atlanta.

He played for the Angels last season, batting .261 with seven homers and 47 RBIs in 104 games. Gosselin is a career .261 hitter with 17 homers and 101 RBIs in 475 games over 10 seasons with seven teams.

Harrison, 26, batted .182 with one homer and three RBIs in nine games this season.

He has two homers and six RBIs to go along with a .176 batting average in 50 career games with the Miami Marlins and Angels.
