The Texas Rangers activated right-handed pitcher Albert Abreu from the 15-day Injured List on Tuesday as the team opened a three-game series in Anaheim against the Angels.
Abreu had been on the 15-day Injured List since May 3 with a left ankle sprain. He made three Triple-A appearances on injury rehabilitation assignment last week and was back in the Rangers bullpen Tuesday night.
In six appearances with Texas this season, Abreu has a 3.52 ERA in 7 2/3 innings, with 11 walks, two home runs allowed, and eight strikeouts. The Rangers acquired him from the New York Yankees on April 2 after he had posted a 4.61 ERA in 28 relief appearances for the Yankees last season.
The team made room for him on the roster Sunday by optioning right-handed pitcher Nick Snyder to Triple-A Round Rock, two days after he had been called up without making an appearance.
