The Pittsburgh Steelers made it official Wednesday by naming Teryl Austin their new defensive coordinator.

Austin replaces longtime Steelers coach Keith Butler, who retired at the end of the season.

Austin, 56, has been on the Steelers’ staff for three seasons and most recently served as senior defensive assistant and secondary coach.

He has defensive coordinator experience with the Detroit Lions (2014-17) and Cincinnati Bengals (2018), while also serving as a defensive backs coach with the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens.
