Auburn held on to the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday but it was another Southeastern Conference program that made the biggest move.
The Tigers (20-1) captured 49 first-place votes, with No. 2 Gonzaga (17-2) grabbing the other 12 as Auburn led by a narrow 33 points. Kentucky (17-4), however, moved up seven spots to No. 5 after an 80-62 win at Kansas on Saturday.
UCLA (16-2) rose four places to No. 3, followed by Purdue (18-3), which rose two spots to settle in at No. 4, just above Kentucky.
The next group consists of No. 6 Houston (18-2), followed by Arizona (17-2), Baylor (18-3), Duke (17-3) and Kansas (17-3), which tumbled five places to No. 10 after the loss to Kentucky.
Moving out of the Top 10 was Michigan State (16-4), which split games on the week with Illinois and Michigan to fall from No. 10 to 13.
Entering the Top 25 was Texas (16-5), which settled in at No. 23 after three straight wins. Falling out of the rankings was Davidson, ranked No. 25 last week.
