WePlay Esports announced Monday that the Academy League Season 3 playoffs will be held online with all teams competing remotely as they did during the group stage.

The decision was made due to “the geopolitical issue on the Ukrainian borders, as well as the uncontrolled epidemiological situation with COVID-19.”

The playoffs are scheduled to begin Feb. 11 and will be broadcast in English and Russian on WePlay’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

“The daily introduction of new restrictions on international transportation also make logistics especially difficult,” WePlay said in its announcement. “The safety of tournament participants, our employees and all stakeholders was, is and will be our priority.”
