Lucas Raymond notched the only goal in the shootout Friday as the visiting Detroit Red Wings snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Raymond, Detroit’s first shooter, snapped a wrist shot past the glove of Pittsburgh goaltender Casey DeSmith.

Red Wings goaltender Calvin Pickard, in his second game of the season, stopped all three Pittsburgh shootout attempts after making 36 saves through regulation and overtime.

Givani Smith and Filip Zadina scored in regulation for the Red Wings, who had been 0-2-1 in their previous three games.

Jake Guentzel scored twice and Sidney Crosby had two assists for the Penguins, who extended their point streak to eight games (6-0-2) and are 17-2-2 in their past 21.

DeSmith, in just his second game since Dec. 19 and having been pulled after one period in his most recent start, made 30 saves through regulation and overtime.

Smith gave Detroit a 1-0 lead with the only goal in the first period.

Sam Gagner, in the right circle, picked off a clearing attempt by Pittsburgh’s Mike Matheson. Gagner’s first shot was blocked by Matheson, and DeSmith stopped Gagner’s second attempt, but Smith, with a spinning move, pounced on the rebound and beat DeSmith from just in front at 18:19 for his first goal in 16 games.

In the second, Matheson goaded Michael Rasmussen into committing a penalty. Matheson hit Rasmussen, who retaliated drawing a cross-checking call, and the Penguins made Rasmussen pay on the power play.

Guentzel got a rebound of a slap shot by Sidney Crosby and beat Pickard at 5:54 to tie it 1-1.

The Red Wings’ power play answered at 16:31 of the second. Nick Leddy’s shot from the center point pinballed among a few players in front before Zadina rapped it in for his first goal in 19 games and a 2-1 lead.

Pittsburgh tied it 27 seconds into the third period. Guentzel started and finished the play, first by forcing a turnover in the Detroit end. Crosby, from the left-wing boards, then set up Guentzel for a one-timer from between the hash marks.
