Trayce Jackson-Davis posted his fourth straight double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds as Indiana held off Nebraska 78-71 on Monday in Lincoln, Neb.

Jackson-Davis sustained a hip injury on a hard foul that forced him to sit the final 6:40 of the game, but Indiana was able to close out the game without the All-American for its first road victory of the season. The Hoosiers, who started the season 0-4 on the road, snapped an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Race Thompson added 12 points for the Hoosiers (13-4, 4-3 Big Ten), and Jordan Geronimo contributed 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

With Jackson-Davis out, Xavier Johnson sank a crucial 3-pointer to put Indiana up 71-61 with 6:08 remaining. Thompson made a hook shot with 3:16 left to put Indiana up 73-65 and hold off a late Cornhuskers charge.

Bryce McGowens led Nebraska (6-13, 0-8) with 20 points, with Alonzo Verge Jr. adding 19 points. The Cornhuskers dropped their sixth straight game.

Jackson-Davis scored 14 points in the first half, helping Indiana jump out to a 45-39 halftime lead. The Hoosiers shot 61.5 percent from the field in the opening half while outscoring Nebraska 22-12 in points in the paint.

Nebraska stayed in the game at the 3-point arc, making four of its first five 3-point attempts. McGowens scored nine points before the break for Nebraska.

Jackson-Davis gave Indiana its first double-digit lead, 31-21, on a finish in transition with 6:51 left in the half.

The Hoosiers went up 41-31 on a jumper by Geronimo before Nebraska closed the half with an 8-4 run. McGowens scored five points for Nebraska during the surge, including a 3-pointer that cut Indiana’s lead to 41-37 and a driving layup that pulled the hosts within 43-39.

Jackson-Davis closed out the half with a driving finish with 1.6 seconds remaining, putting Indiana up 45-39 at halftime.

The Cornhuskers never cut the deficit below four points in the second half.
