Quarterback Jayden de Laura, the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year for Washington State this season, is transferring to Arizona.

de Laura made the announcement on Twitter, with the Honolulu product writing, “IT’S PERSONAL!!!” above a graphic that had a caption, “DESERT BOUND.”

He threw for 2,798 yards, 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2021 as the Cougars went 7-6, including a Sun Bowl loss to Central Michigan.

The move came on the same day that FCS All-America quarterback Cameron Ward announced his transfer to Washington State. Ward was a star at Incarnate Word, and his head coach there, Eric Morris, was recently hired to serve as the Cougars’ offensive coordinator.

Ward passed for 4,648 yards, 47 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while guiding Incarnate Word to a 10-3 record.

In 2020, de Laura appeared in four games for Washington State and passed for 886 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. Because he played in four or fewer games, he retained his freshman eligibility. He will have three years of eligibility left upon his arrival in Tucson, Ariz.
