Columbus Crew backup goalkeeper Evan Bush signed a one-year contract that includes an option for the 2023 season.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team on Monday.

“Evan is a talented, veteran goalkeeper with extensive experience in MLS,” Crew president and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said. “Evan is a consummate professional and continues to foster competition and provide depth to our goalkeeper corps. He has stepped in admirably when called upon, including helping us lift the Campeones Cup last fall, and we’re pleased that he will be returning to the Club this season.”

Bush, 35, recorded one clean sheet in four appearances last season for the Crew, who turned to goalkeeper Eloy Room for 30 starts in 2021.

He has 42 clean sheets in 188 career appearances (all starts) with CF Montreal (2012-20), the Vancouver Whitecaps (2020) and Crew.
