Umoja Gibson scored 17 points to lead Oklahoma to a 72-48 win over visiting Alcorn State on Wednesday in Norman, Okla.

Gibson was 6 of 11 from the floor and 5 of 9 from beyond the 3-point line. Gibson scored 11 of his points in the first half as the hosts took control.

Jordan Goldwire added 11 points and Tanner Groves chipped in 10 in the win.

The Sooners (10-2) shot a season-high 60 percent from the field en route to their third straight victory. The Braves (1-11), meanwhile, have dropped six consecutive games.

Oklahoma got off to an uneven start but still built a big lead quickly, going on a 13-2 run early to take control for good. The Sooners struggled with turnovers once again, giving the ball up 20 times. But Oklahoma overcame it with strong shooting and solid defense, including 23 points off 16 Braves turnovers.

While the Sooners struggled from beyond the arc to start — missing their first seven from beyond the 3-point line — they excelled near the basket.

Oklahoma went 8 of 10 from inside the arc in the first half, building a lead as big as 21 before heading into the locker room ahead 34-15. Alcorn State shot just 22.2 percent (6 of 27) in the first half.

Oklahoma kept pouring it on after halftime, building a lead as big as 33 before the Braves closed with a 13-4 run against the Sooners’ reserves.

The Sooners shot 71.4 percent from the floor (15 of 21) in the second half, including 5 of 7 on 3-pointers.

All five Sooners started had multiple assists, led by four from Elijah Harkless. Groves grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Paul King led Alcorn State with 13 points and four steals, while Darrious Agnew added 12 points and seven rebounds.
