NCAAB: No. 17 LSU crushes Lipscomb to remain unbeaten

Darius Days scored 21 points and five teammates also scored in double figures as No. 17 LSU stayed unbeaten by routing Lipscomb 95-60 on Wednesday night in Baton Rouge, La.

Xavier Pinson added 17 points, Brandon Murray and Eric Gaines scored 13 each, Efton Reid had 12 and Mwani Wilkinson contributed 11 for the Tigers (12-0). LSU played its final game before opening Southeastern Conference play at No. 12 Auburn on Dec. 29.

Reid grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Jacob Ognacevic scored 12 points to lead the Bisons (6-8), who lost their seventh consecutive game against Division I competition.

LSU shot 53.3 percent from the floor, including 54.5 percent on 3-point attempts (12 of 22). Lipscomb shot 39.2 percent from the field, including 30 percent (9 of 30) from long distance.

The Tigers scored the game’s first five points, never trailed and led 48-24 at halftime.

Days started the second-half scoring with a layup and scored seven of the Tigers’ first nine points as they expanded their lead to 57-28.

Tommy Murr answered with a free throw, but Pinson had a layup and a 3-pointer as LSU pushed the lead to 62-31.

Days started the game’s scoring with a 3-pointer, and he made another trey that pushed the lead to 18-5.

Lipscomb’s Parker Hazen had three points and Kaleb Coleman made a 3-pointer during an 8-0 run that pulled the Bisons within five points.

A jumper by Gaines ended the run and a 3-pointer by Wilkinson pushed the Tigers’ lead to 27-17.

LSU continued to expand the lead as Pinson made two 3-pointers and Days added one during a 13-2 run that produced a 42-22 lead.

Murr made two free throws for the Bisons’ only points during the final 5:21 of the half.

Wilkinson answered with a jumper and Days added another 3-pointer to give the Tigers a 24-point halftime lead.

LSU made 8 of 16 3-point attempts in the first half and Lipscomb made 2 of 14.
