Jonathan Marchessault scored the only goal of the shootout and the visiting Vegas Golden Knights rallied late for a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers Friday night.

Vegas won its fourth straight and its seventh in eight games thanks to Marchessault’s game-winner in the third round of the shootout.

After Nicolas Roy and Evgenii Dadonov were stopped by New York goalie Alexandar Georgiev, Marchessault won it when he made a wide move down the right wing and lifted a wrist shot from near the right faceoff circle over Georgiev’s stick side.

Vegas netminder Laurent Brossoit stopped Mika Zibanejad and Ryan Strome in the shootout and made 27 saves, including seven in a free-flowing 3-on-3 overtime that saw the teams combine for 11 shots.

Georgiev made 28 saves, including three on Max Pacioretty in overtime with two stops coming on a breakaway with about 3 1/2 minutes left.

Former Ranger Brett Howden scored and had an assist by winning a faceoff from Zibanejad that led to Dylan Coghlan’s tying tally with 5:16 remaining.

Zibanejad scored early in the second and Chris Kreider scored his 11th power-play goal and 18th overall midway through the second. The Rangers lost for the fourth time in six games and were unable to withstand the absence of Artemi Panarin.

Panarin missed the game due to a lower-body injury after playing only seven minutes in Wednesday’s 3-2 win over the host Arizona Coyotes.

Howden opened the scoring by burying his own rebound 6:49 into the game. Vegas held the lead until Zibanejad’s blistering wrist shot from the right wing went under defenseman Zach Whitecloud’s legs 17 seconds into the second period.

Kreider scored his latest power-play goal by crashing the net, going to the left side of the crease and tipping in Zibanejad’s pass midway through the second.

The Rangers lost the lead when Coghlan was left wide-open and fired a wrist shot from above the left circle over a screened Georgiev.
