The Seattle Mariners signed right-hander Andres Munoz to a four-year extension through the 2025 season, with club options for three additional seasons.

Wednesday’s announcement locks the 22-year-old in with Seattle through his arbitration years, which would have begun in 2023.

“Andres is an incredibly talented young pitcher who has just scratched the surface of his potential,” Seattle president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said in a news release. “We are all looking forward to a long and successful future with the Mariners.”

Munoz was acquired by the Mariners on Aug. 31, 2020 along with Ty France, Luis Torrens and Taylor Trammell from the San Diego Padres in exchange for Austin Adams, Dan Altavilla and Austin Nola.

Munoz made one appearance with the Mariners in 2021, facing four batters in two-thirds of an inning of relief against the Los Angeles Angels in the Oct. 3 season finale. He walked two, struck out one and did not allow any hits or runs.

He was 1-1 with a 3.91 ERA and one save in 22 relief appearances for the Padres in 2019. He missed the 2020 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
