Eddie Lampkin posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to power TCU past visiting Austin Peay 68-51 in a nonconference game on Monday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mike Miles had 12 points and three assists and Emanuel Miller added eight points and five rebounds for TCU (5-1), which outrebounded the Governors 51-30 and outscored them 38-18 in the paint.

TCU, which also received six points and eight rebounds from Micah Peavy, shot 39.7 percent (27 of 68) from the field, including 23.8 percent (5 of 21) from 3-point range, and led by as many as 23 in the second half.

Austin Peay (3-3) was led by Caleb Stone-Carrawell’s 14 points, with Tariq Silver adding 11 points and five assists.

The Governors shot 35.8 percent (19 of 53) from the field and struggled from 3-point range by making just seven of their 28 attempts (25 percent). Their inability to rebound consistently, especially defensively, led to the Horned Frogs scoring 25 second-chance points.

Leading 34-26 at halftime, the Horned Frogs put the game away by opening the second half on a 15-4 run capped by Miles’ 3-pointer to give TCU a 49-30 lead with 14:50 left in the game.

After Austin Peay’s Stone-Carrawell slammed home the game’s first basket, the Horned Frogs scored the next eight points and never looked back.

TCU led by as many as 13 points in the first half and 34-26 at halftime.

The Horned Frogs, led by Lampkins’ seven points first-half points, shot 42.4 percent (14 of 33) from the field and 20 percent (2 of 10) from 3-point range, in addition to outrebounding the Governors 27-14.

The Governors never recovered from their poor outside shooting from the game’s outset. Austin Peay missed its first eight attempts from beyond the arc before Silver finally made one with 7:45 left in the first half.

Austin Peay, led by Stone-Carrawell’s 11 points, finished the half 10 of 28 (35.7 percent) from the field, including 3 of 14 (21.4 percent) from 3-point range.
