Toronto Ultra coach Mark “MarkyB” Bryceland said his team was not changing its lineup this offseason after a comment leaked from Ben “Bance” Bance that set off speculation he would not return.

During a Twitch stream Monday, private direct messages between Bance and Obaid “Asim” Asim of LA Guerrillas were accidentally displayed on screen, including Bance saying he was “(Probably) getting dropped for hicksy.”

Charlie “Hicksy” Hicks is a substitute for Toronto.

It turned out to be a joke that OWL fans took out of proportion.

“I can confirm, we’re not making any changes to our starting roster,” MarkyB wrote in a Reddit comment. “Our season has started off incredibly in and out of game.”

In a separate comment, the coach added that it was “a tongue and cheek comment by Ben which he clearly never thought would be shared publically (sic) and scrutinised.”

Bance, a 24-year-old from the United Kingdom, has played for Ultra since signing in October 2019.
