Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields left Sunday’s game with a rib injury, and it’s too early for the team to tell if the rookie will be part of the Thanksgiving Day menu at Detroit, coach Matt Nagy said Monday.

“I’m still gathering facts,” Nagy said Monday afternoon.

The Bears (3-7) are headed to face the winless Lions (0-9-1) at Ford Field on Thursday and each team is unsettled at the position.

Tim Boyle started for the Lions in place of Jared Goff on Sunday and tallied just 77 yards with two interceptions in a 13-10 defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Browns.

Goff was sidelined by an abdominal injury.

Nagy said the uncertainty is part of the short week of preparation either way.

“Gameplan wise, you could only do so much in this short amount of time,” Nagy said. “So that’s what we got, to keep that in mind as we go, and our coaches will do a good job of that.”

Fields has bruised ribs as a result of a hit that knocked him out of the game in the second half of the Bears’ 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. He was injured during Chicago’s first possession of the third quarter. Andy Dalton finished the game.

Fields completed 4 of 11 passes for 79 yards and rushed four times for 23 yards with a fumble before exiting.

Dalton was 11-of-23 passing for 201 yards and two touchdowns after entering in relief, but the veteran couldn’t prevent Chicago from losing its fifth straight game.
