Georgia Tech coach Josh Pastner can’t wait to see what Michael Devoe does for a response on Monday when the Yellow Jackets host Charleston Southern in Atlanta.

Devoe scored a career-high 37 points against Georgia on Friday. He made 14 of 18 shots from the floor, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, in addition to posting seven rebounds and five assists in the 88-78 win.

“I don’t know if he’s played a better one,” Pastner said of Devoe, who will be playing in his 91st game as a Yellow Jacket on Monday. “He was special tonight.”

Devoe said all he cared about was the Yellow Jackets (3-1) ending a five-game losing streak against the Bulldogs.

“When I see my first shot go in, I feel like the rim gets bigger,” he said. “I feel I’m one of the best shooters in the country. It felt great. My teammates were finding me in open areas and I was making the most of it. But the biggest thing was getting the win.”

Devoe is averaging 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game for Georgia Tech, which has won three straight games since a season-opening 72-69 loss to visiting Miami of Ohio.

Jordan Usher added 21 and Rodney Howard had eight points and seven rebounds before fouling out with 2:11 remaining. Deivon Smith added seven points.

“Our players made big shots and big plays across the board,” Pastner said. “You don’t win games like that without guys making big-time plays.”

Charleston Southern (2-2) ended a two-game losing streak with a 119-63 win over visiting Division III Bob Jones University on Saturday.

The Buccaneers jumped out to a 25-0 lead in the first 6:15 and cruised to a 63-27 halftime advantage. They outscored the Bruins by 20 in the second half.

Deontaye Buskey and Kalib Clinton each scored a team-high 16 points for the Buccaneers. Cheikh Faye added 15, A.J. Hamrick posted 13 and Claudell Harris chipped in 10 in the win.
