Kevin McCullar scored 17 points and Terrence Shannon Jr. added 16 to lead Texas Tech to an 84-62 victory over Incarnate Word at the South Padre Island Battle on the Beach on Saturday in Texas.

Adonis Arms scored 12 points and Bryson Williams added 10 for the Red Raiders (4-0), who shot 53.3 percent (32-for-60) from the field and 39.1 percent (9-for-23) from 3-point range. Kevin Obanor had six points and a team-high six rebounds.

Incarnate Word (0-4) was led by Johnny Hughes III, who came off the bench to record a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds, while RJ Glasper and Benjamin Griscti added 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The Cardinals shot 47.8 percent (22-for-46) from the field and 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from beyond the arc. But Incarnate Word’s undoing was its inability to take care of the ball. The Cardinals finished with 22 turnovers — twice as many as the Red Raiders — in addition to being outrebounded 31-26

After the Cardinals pulled to within 49-47 on Griscti’s 3-pointer with just over 13 minutes remaining, the Red Raiders went on a 11-0 run to take a 60-47 lead following Williams’ layup with 9:27 left in the game.

The Red Raiders led by as many as 22 points the rest of the way.

Trailing 16-14 following Hughes’ 3-points with 11:36 left in the first half, the Red Raiders closed the first half on a 22-15 run to take a 36-31 advantage at halftime.

McCullar scored 12 points and Shannon added 10 in the first half for the Red Raiders, who shot 50 percent (13-for-26) from the field and 38.5 percent (5-for-13) from 3-point range. However, they forced the Cardinals into committing 14 turnovers.

Hughes scored 10 first-half points for the Cardinals, who shot 11-for-21 (55 percent) from the field and an impressive 7-for-12 (58.3 percent) from beyond the arc but committed 14 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.
