New York Liberty guard/forward Betnijah Laney is recovering after arthroscopic surgery on her left knee.

The 2021 WNBA All-Star had the procedure Wednesday with Drs. Riley Williams and Benedict Nwachukwu at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery.

In a statement released Thursday, the team said Laney will begin rehabilitation and is expected to make a full recovery before training camp in 2022.

Laney, 28, averaged 16.8 points, 5.2 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 32 starts during her first season with the Liberty in 2021. She scored a game-high 25 points in New York’s 83-82 playoff loss to the Phoenix Mercury.

A second-round pick by Chicago in 2015, Laney has career averages of 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 157 games with the Sky (2015-16), Connecticut Sun (2018), Indiana Fever (2019), Atlanta Dream (2020) and Liberty.
