Zach Calzada passed for two touchdowns and Devon Achane rushed for two as No. 16 Texas A&M trounced Prairie View A&M 52-3 on Saturday afternoon at College Station, Texas.
Moose Muhammad III had five receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns for the Aggies (8-3). Aaron Hansford scored on a fumble return, Isaiah Spiller and Amari Daniels added rushing touchdowns and Seth Small became Texas A&M’s all-time leading scorer.
Luis Reyes’ 25-yard field goal prevented Prairie View (7-3) from being shut out. Jaden Stewart rushed for 100 yards on 24 carries but the FCS program was outgained 447 to 154 and had just seven passing yards while losing its second straight game.
The Aggies rolled up 24 first downs and 279 rushing yards in the easy victory. Daniels and Spiller each rushed for 70 yards, Calzada completed 10 of 14 passes for 150 yards and Texas A&M recorded four sacks.
The Aggies started the assault with three touchdowns in the opening quarter.
Spiller scored on an 11-yard run with 8:31 left in the quarter and Achane tacked on a 1-yard run less than three minutes later.
The defense then got into the act as blitzing Antonio Johnson sacked Prairie View quarterback Jawon Pass and forced him to fumble. Hansford picked it up and raced 17 yards to make it 21-0.
Small booted a 27-yard field goal with 13:01 left in the half first to become Texas A&M’s all-time leading scorer, passing Randy Bullock (365 from 2008-11). Small finished the contest with 372 points.
Calzada tossed a 33-yard touchdown pass to Muhammad to make it 31-0 with 5:22 left in the half. Achane added a 1-yard run with six seconds to play.
Muhammad caught a 30-yard scoring pass from Calzada to complete the first drive of the third quarter to make it 45-0.
The Panthers got on the board when Reyes kicked his field goal with 5:46 left in the quarter.
Texas A&M increased the lead to 52-3 when Daniels scored on an 8-yard run with 13:47 left in the contest.
