No. 19 Ohio State will be without forward Justice Sueing for an extended time due to an abdominal injury.
Sueing started all 31 games for the Buckeyes last season and averaged 10.7 points on a career-high 49.1 percent shooting to go with 5.5 rebounds per game. It is believed he will return this season.
“We look forward to getting Justice back when he is healthy,” coach Chris Holtmann said in a statement. “I’m disappointed for him because I know how much he is looking forward to his senior year. I know he will rest, rehab and be ready to go when he is healthy.”
A native of Hawaii, Sueing started his career with two seasons at Cal before transferring to Ohio State. He sat out the 2019-20 season per NCAA transfer rules.
He sustained a groin injury at the end of the 2020-21 season and recently had been hampered by an injury Holtmann previously described as a lower-body injury. He sat out Monday night’s game against Bowling Green, and Holtmann said Sueing had been sent to Cleveland to see a specialist.
Sueing played in the Buckeyes’ first two games but was limited to a total of 12 points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes against Akron and Niagara.
The Buckeyes (3-0) play at Xavier (2-0) in an all-Ohio battle Thursday night.
