Steven Stamkos and Brayden Point each scored in a shootout, and the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the host Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 on Thursday.

Stamkos had one goal and assist in regulation for the Lightning, who improved to 7-0-2 in their last nine games.

Point and Mathieu Joseph each added one goal for the Lightning. Victor Hedman also had two assists.

Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 27 shots as well as both attempts in the shootout.

The Lightning have won eight straight games against the Flyers.

Claude Giroux scored two goals and Travis Konecny had one goal for the Flyers.

Derick Brassard contributed two assists.

Flyers goaltender Carter Hart made 29 saves.

The Flyers quickly went ahead 1-0 when Giroux skated in all alone and scored at 1:34 of the first period.

Philadelphia took a 2-0 advantage at 11:21 when Konecny blocked a shot at center ice, gathered the puck and fired a wrist shot from the point into the net.

The Lightning led 13-5 in shots but trailed by two goals. Stamkos had a strong shot on goal at 15:48, but Hart made the save and cleared the puck.

Tampa Bay closed within 2-1 on the power play at 1:51 of the second as Point received a pass in front and sent a backhand over Hart’s shoulder.

The Lightning controlled the pace from there and tied the game at 2 when Joseph redirected a shot in front at 14:52 of the second.

Philadelphia’s Oskar Lindblom fired a shot off the post at 18:30 and Cam Atkinson had an opportunity on the rebound but couldn’t quite get a clean shot as he was sprawling to the ice.

Vasilevskiy made several stellar saves during an early power play in the third.

Ivan Provorov was stymied by Vasilevskiy on two scoring chances midway through the third.

Ross Colton appeared to be in position to put the Lightning ahead at 11:39, but Hart somehow slid across the crease and made the save.

After Stamkos’ go-ahead goal from a tough angle at 18:04, Giroux tied the game with 8.1 seconds left soon after the Flyers pulled Hart for an extra skater.

After a scintillating overtime, the Lightning then took control in the shootout.
