The San Francisco 49ers waived veteran cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick on Tuesday.

The move comes one day after San Francisco notched a convincing 31-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Kirkpatrick was one of the team’s inactives due to an ankle injury.

The 32-year-old Kirkpatrick played in six games for the 49ers, starting one, while totaling seven tackles.

The 10-year veteran played his first eight NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals before joining the Arizona Cardinals last season. He has 13 career interceptions — two returned for touchdowns — and 365 tackles in 119 games (79 starts).

Cincinnati selected Kirkpatrick in the first round (17th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
