Baker Mayfield has a sore foot that has limited him in practice the past few days, but he is expected to play Sunday when his Cleveland Browns face the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass.

Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Thursday he’s planning on his quarterback being on the field in a key matchup of 5-4 AFC teams.

“I wouldn’t expect Bake to miss any time as it pertains to the game,” Van Pelt told reporters Thursday. “I know he’s a tough guy. He’s already played through a lot worse than this, and I think he’ll be fine. Just got to find a way to get him through practice this week.”

Mayfield, 26, has struggled with injuries to his left, non-throwing shoulder this season — a torn labrum and a fracture — and likely will need offseason surgery. On Wednesday, he said his foot problem was “nothing major by any means.”

In eight games this season, Mayfield has completed 150 of 225 pass attempts (66.7 percent) for 1,917 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.
