ATP: ATP roundup: Top Canadians will square off in Stockholm semis

Canadians Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime booked a head-to-head match in the semifinals of the Stockholm Open in Sweden on Thursday.

The second-seeded Auger-Aliassime defeated Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands 6-4, 6-3 in one quarterfinal. The No. 3 seed Shapovalov had to rally in his, outlasting Arthur Rinderknech of France 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Auger-Aliassime leads the all-time matchup vs. Shapovalov 3-2.

Americans Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul will face off in the other semi.

Tiafoe upended No. 4 seed Daniel Evans of Britain 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarters, while Paul ended the run of Brit wild card Andy Murray 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals

Top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz of Spain defeated No. 5 seed Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo 4-0, 4-1, 2-4, 4-3 (3) in the quarterfinals in Milan.

Alcaraz will face No. 6 Sebastian Baez in the semifinals. The Argentine posted a 4-3 (2), 4-2, 4-2 win over France’s Hugo Gaston, the No. 8 seed.

Second-seeded American Sebastian Korda defeated No. 3 Lorenzo Musetti of Italy 4-2, 4-3 (4), 4-2. Korda will next face countryman Brandon Nakashima, a 3-4 (3), 4-1, 4-1, 4-3 (1) winner over No. 7 seed Holger Rune of Denmark.
