New York City FC standout midfielder Keaton Parks will miss the postseason after undergoing surgery Tuesday to remove a blood clot from his popliteal artery in his lower right leg.
Parks, 24, is expected to make a complete recovery and return to training next season, the team announced. Parks, who will begin rehab immediately, underwent the surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
He most recently played Oct. 30 against Inter Miami, getting one assist in 90 minutes. He missed his team’s final game of the season, against Philadelphia, on Sunday because of a calf injury.
NYCFC (14-11-9, 51 points) finished the regular season with the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference and will host No. 5 Atlanta United (13-9-12, 51) on Nov. 21 in a playoff game. The winner will advance to the conference semifinals.
Parks played in 31 games and logged 2,444 minutes this season, with four goals and three assists.
