Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson continues to work through a concussion and his availability is uncertain for Saturday’s game against South Carolina.

If Richardson can’t play, Emory Jones will return to a starting role.

Richardson was injured during last Saturday’s 34-7 loss to top-ranked Georgia. He was making his first start of the season and completed 12 of 20 passes for 82 yards and two interceptions before exiting.

Richardson passed for 167 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions against LSU on Oct. 16 after replacing Jones. He has passed for 474 yards, five scores and five interceptions, while rushing for 374 yards and three touchdowns.

Jones has passed for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also has rushed for 517 yards and three scores.

Jones came in for Richardson against Georgia and completed 10 of 14 passes for 112 yards. He also rushed for Florida’s lone touchdown.

Gators coach Dan Mullen said that Jones has kept a solid attitude despite losing the starting gig to Richardson.

“His character, his work ethic, his demeanor is unbelievable,” Mullen told reporters on Wednesday. “You look at Saturday and very easily as a young guy you can sit there and say, ‘Hey, this is not exactly the situation that I was hoping to be in right now.’ That wasn’t his case at all.”

Florida (4-4, 2-4 SEC) has dropped three of its last four games entering the clash with the host Gamecocks (4-4, 1-4).
