In control of their playoff destiny, CF Montreal look to keep their postseason hopes alive when they host the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday.

CF Montreal (11-11-10, 43 points) sit 10th in the Eastern Conference after a 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. Winning both of their remaining games would give them 49 points and slot them no worse than the seventh and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Montreal close out the season against Orlando City SC, who have 48 points and only the one match remaining.

“All I know is we have to win the game on Wednesday,” Montreal coach Wilfried Nancy said. “And Saturday, we have to win again to have a chance to make the playoffs. That’s all I’m interested in.”

Montreal striker Romell Quioto will be available after missing the past four games with a thigh injury. It would be Quioto’s first game against his former club, with which he played from 2017 to 2019.

Houston (6-15-12, 33 points) enters the match looking to close out its season on a high note. The club has lost four of its last five games heading into the finale and has been shut out in two of its past three games.

“We’ve got to keep doing what we’re doing,” coach Tab Ramos said. “The team has been playing with confidence, has been creating opportunities. We have been on the verge of winning all these games and, unfortunately, they’re not going our way. I’m not surprised. This is a group that’s been fighting the whole year. We didn’t fold in any game this year. I think that’s a lot of credit to the players.”

The Dynamo are 0-10-6 on the road this season and are the only MLS club without a win on opposing pitches.

Montreal and Houston are meeting for the first time since March 9, 2019.
