The Arizona Cardinals’ Jonathan Ward and the Green Bay Packers’ Kylin Hill were both carted off the field after a collision on a third-quarter kickoff during the Thursday night game in Glendale, Ariz.
Ward was being evaluated for a neck injury and a concussion. The Cardinals said he had “movement in all his extremities.”
The Packers ruled Hill out for the rest of the contest due to a knee injury.
Hill returned the kickoff 13 yards to the Green Bay 9-yard line, where he was slammed into hard by Ward on the tackle. Both players were sprawled on the turf and received assistance with 6:19 left in the quarter.
Ward was strapped down on the cart and signaled he was OK while being removed. Hill sat up on the cart while being whisked away.
Ward is in his second season with the Cardinals after he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan. Hill is a rookie seventh-round pick from Mississippi State.
Green Bay tight end Robert Tonyan left late in the third quarter with a left knee injury.
