Cloud9 are exploring the buyout market for star mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perkovic, Dot Esports reported on Thursday.

Per the report, Perkz informed Cloud9 management and teammates at the 2021 League of Legends World Championship that he was against returning to the organization in 2022 due to family reasons.

Dot Esports, however, reported that the 23-year-old Croatian has told peers that he’d like to build an esports team of his own. Cloud9 did not comment on that claim, per Dot Esports.

Perkz signed a three-year deal with Cloud9 in November 2020. He previously competed with G2 Esports, helping that club win eight different European titles, the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational championship, and make three runs at the World Championship in a row.
