United States Men’s National Team head coach Gregg Berhalter was one of 22 persons named as veteran ballot semifinalists Tuesday for entry to the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Also listed as semifinalists were former USMNT members Chris Armas, Frankie Hejduk, Eddie Lewis, Clint Mathis and Taylor Twellman.

The veteran ballot was designed to give Hall of Fame consideration for players who have been retired for at least 10 years. There is also a player ballot (retired for three years, but no more than 10) and a builder ballot (contributors to the game in a non-playing capacity).

Armas, 49, had 66 games of experience with the national team, scoring two goals. Hejduk, 47, had 85 games of experience with seven goals. Lewis, 47, had 82 games of experience with 10 goals, and Mathis, 44, had 46 games of experience with 12 goals.

Twellman, 41, who serves as an ESPN analyst, was a star player for the New England Revolution, scoring 101 goals. He also played 30 games with the USMNT, scoring six goals.

Others nominated on the veteran ballot: Chico Borja, Sean Bowers, Marco Etcheverry, Linda Hamilton, Mary Harvey, Angela Hucles, Shep Messing, Victor Nogueira, John O’Brien, Steve Ralston, Tony Sanneh, Kate Sobrero Markgraf, Lindsay Tarpley, Tatu, Tisha Venturini-Hoch and Slavisa “Steve” Zungul.

The Hall of Fame is located in Frisco, Texas, at Toyota Stadium.
